A. C. Smith is a freelance artist from Mobile, Alabama. He has been drawing since the tender age of two. He believes that his talent is a gift from God and acknowledges the source of his inspiration everywhere he goes. He received art training at an early age through a community program called "Culture in Black and White." He obtained more training in high school.
After graduation from high school, A. C. began his pursuit to become a career freelance artist. He has produced portraits throughout the Mobile community and has been featured on several local television news programs. He has also created illustrations and renderings for various businesses in the area and entered several local art shows winning numerous awards.
During the early 90's he began traveling throughout the U.S. entering art and mall shows. He has drawn caricatures for different businesses at several major events. In 2004 he began creating illustrations for the greeting card company African American Expressions and in 2012 he created illustrations for Bible covers, journals, calendars, drinking cups and magnets for the same company.
A. C. produces artwork during the spring-break and the summer vacation period at the beach resort, The Beach Club, located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. During the remainder of the year he travels throughout the country with Solid Inspiration Publishing producing portraits and selling artwork. A. C. currently has several prints on the market that are selling quite well. He had a showing in Washington, D. C. during the 2008 Presidential Inauguration.
Other Accomplishments
A. C. teaches art classes and workshops throughout the city of Mobile.
He has painted murals inside several schools in the Mobile County Public School System, including LeFlore High School and Pillans Middle School.
He has also produced illustrations for several books and publications.
